Jamie Lynn Spears Jamie Lynn Spears, is pregnant at age 16. Jamie is the star of Nickelodeon’s most popular show, Zoey 101. She doesn’t know if she’ll be returning after the pregnancy. The father of the baby is Casey Aldridge, age 19. Why should I care about Jamie Lynn Spears? Because this media coverage and the way we’re reacting to it sheds light on the average American.

For once, can we put things into perspective? Thousands of people are gossiping and ridiculing a girl they’ve never met. Early introduction to pop culture has fueled an on going fascination with watching the celebrities we grew up with crash and burn. The turn of the 21st century brought reality television and 24 hours news broadcasting. What seems like harmless coverage over celebrity culture is subconsciously training us on how we can or should live. PsyBlog posted an interesting article about secret attitude changes simply by the environment and information humans are exposed to. Read the rest of this entry »

Son of a bitch! Sigh.

IT IS HIDEOUS! Why am I frustrated? Because as soon as I make a post about how much I hate Tim Burton I hear he’s going to direct a new Alice in Wonderland. Hasn’t this story been remade enough times? That’s the first reason I’m so pissed off about this. I’m so tired of Alice in Wonderland. I hate seeing the remakes, I hate hearing the story. I’m sick of it. The second reason is that Tim Burton continues to have a career without doing anything different except copying his old work.

Boingboing.net quote him as saying:

“The stories are like drugs for children, you know? It’s like, ‘Whoa, man.’ The imagery, they’ve never quite nailed making it compelling as a full story. So I think it’s an interesting challenge to direct.”

I’m sure you may have heard rumors or maybe you even “got that vibe from me”. I’m hear to dispel all the rumors that have been floating around. I am coming out of the closet right here on my own blog. Here it goes… I despise web 2.0 designs

all images from free stock - Web 2.0 Sucks Phew, wow, that felt amazing. I never realized how hard it is to keep that bottled in. With all the pressure to be cool and hip. I know Web 2.0 designs were my peers’s way to counteract all of those sickening celebrity collage websites with the atom sized font. Here are a seven reasons that I hate web 2.0 designs:

1. If I have to look at another over sized feed icon that has a magical reflection, I will vomit on your website!

If your giant orange feed icon is blinding me from looking at your actual content, you have a big problem. What’s even worse is when you have the giant feed icon, with its glorious reflection, and you have a Feedburner icon underneath it to display that you have 20 feed subscribers. How cute! Someone’s overcompensating for something! Read the rest of this entry »

You heard me right, plastic is not lovable. Before the naysayers and the haters start in, “But Linda, plastic is a valuable resource to the world! Didn’t you see that commercial with the kid playing with the toy and he tips over a plastic container but he ends up being safe?!” just shut up. First of all, that was orange soda. Orange soda doesn’t hurt people, it helps them. Second, that kid could have had the power of Hercules and twisted that bottle cap off. Where would you haters be then, huh? You want to see an innocent toddler choking on a plastic lid?

I digress, none of the above has remotely anything to do with my post. What I’m talking about is women like the one depicted in the photo below. Sure, some of you may think her and girls like her are hot.

(Really? She looks like a fucking maniac.) Read the rest of this entry »
