
China, the fourth largest nation in the world. With a population count around 1,321,851,888 people, you’ve got to be pretty intimidating. In 2003 China was the world’s fourth biggest importer. However, PPI suspects that China could in fact be the world’s biggest importer by 2010. China has slowly been fazing out importing to America in favour of Europe’s freer trading system. China’s exports to the United States were US$52.1 billion in 2000 and reached US$162.9 billion in 2005, an increase of 212 per cent. According to US customs statistics, the US exports to China were US$16.2 billion in 2000 and reached US$41.8 billion in 2005, an increase of 157 per cent.
