Something to make you look forward to 2008

Prince Caspian May 16th, 2008 to be exact. That is Walt Disney plans to release the second installment of C.S. Lewis’s Narnia, Prince Caspain. Don’t believe me? Well, why don’t you go watch the trailer. It looks amazing! I love Narnia! This one looks even better than The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. And is it just me, or is Prince Caspian Orlando-Bloom-hot? After seeing the trailer, this is probably the movie I look forward to the most for next year. Other movies that look interesting are as follow…

Hell YES Movies

Movies I will be watching in theatres.

Hell YES Movies Be Kind Rewind (Jan 25th), from the director of Sunshine for a Spotless Mind comes a quirky movie about two video store workers who accidentally erase the video tapes. A side of Jack Black I’ve never seen before, but what else can I expect from Michel Gondry? I cannot wait to see this movie!

Untraceable (Jan 25th)
got my adrenaline pumping! An amazing feat for a movie trailer. It begins like a bad Saw reproduction, then it becomes something that sounds really unique! I’ve always liked every movie Diane Lane has been in, so I don’t think I’d be disappointed in this one. It looks like a great thriller, I can’t wait!

In Bruges (Feb 8th) made me laugh four times in the trailer alone. All my favourite actors pairs up with my favourite film production company? Everything Focus Features has produced has been gold. This one will be amazing too, I know it.

Charlie Barlett (Feb 1st) begins like a typical bad boy gets put into new school movie. I must admit, I’m drawn to any movie that involves a prep school ever since I read A Separate Peace. This movie seems like good combination of Ferris Bueller and Teen Wold. We need some eighties flair back into our teen comedies! I hope this looks as good as the trailer! Jon Poll, don’t fail me now!

Funny Games (Feb 15th) looks so freaking good! It’s so twisted, like Heathers! Michael Haneke has worked on mostly foreign films and I’ve never seen his work. I’ll most likely love this though, it’s like Cruel Intentions or Red Eye. I want to see this so badly! What’s interesting is this is actually a remake of Haneke’s 1997 film, Funny Games. I love that he’s remaking his own film!

The Spiderwick Chronicles (Feb 15th) Neverending Story plus Jumanji? Yes, yes, and yes! Whoot for young adult fantasy!

Maybe? Movies

Movies I will rent (or sneak in to see).

Penelope (Feb 1st) would be my thumbs up movies, but it reminds me of the twisted tale (no pun intended) The Pig King. It has everything I would like in a movie and the cast looks wonderful. I’m just very cautious about the ending. So, it’s a maybe!

Made of Honor (Feb 8th)
is about a guy who falls in love with his best friend during her wedding, and he’s her Maid of Honor. I typically don’t go for these kinds of movies, because they’re so cliche. But it made me giggle, so I’ll probably end up seeing it one day.

Strange Wilderness (Feb 1st)
looks like a funny movie. I hated Talladega Nights, but I loved Blades of Glory. Hopefully there isn’t too much dumbass frat boy humor, I like enjoying comedy just like everyone else!

27 Dresses (Jan 11th)
is about a woman who has always been a bridesmaid, but never the bride. It’s nice to see a nineties romantic comedy appear in this day in age. From the screenwriter of The Devil Wears Prada, I expect a good movie.

The Eye (Feb 1st) maybe I just have a thing against Jessica Alba, but I’m not sure about this one yet. The editing looks very good, but I don’t know if the movie is a cheesy this-movie-was-semi-inspired-by-The-Ring movie, or something that is actually original. It is another Chinese movie remake and I’ve never seen either of the directors’s work. I will leave it up for a maybe.

Possible crapage for next year

Movies I may catch on television two years after they’re released.

Not worth it One Missed Call (Jan 4th) is about a group of friends who get voice mails from their future selves reveling how and when they will die. This film sounded intriguing until I saw the trailer. It’s too bad it looks like a combination of The Ring, White Noise, Final Destination and Stay Alive (although, I have to admit, Stay Alive was surprisingly good for a regular teen-summer horror movie). I’m afraid it will be just another empty horror movie. :(

Skid Marks (Jan 4th) has something to do with ambulance drivers. I couldn’t watch the full preview, because it looks like a bunch of disgusting crap. Think the worst parts of Superbad mixed with the disgusting parts of Jackass. Not worth watching.

Fool’s Gold (Feb 8th) is possible crapage, in may turn out to be ok. It looks like the typical divorced-couple-finds-love-again movie. The characters are just like the actors and the plot doesn’t leave much to the imagination. Unless they’re keeping a giant secret, this one doesn’t look that good.

Movies I haven’t decided about yet

Dude… isn’t Half Blood Prince coming out in ‘08 too? That counts!! And seriously, that’s the first I’ve seen of the Caspian trailer… you KNOW I love Narnia… I’M SO FREAKING EXCITED NOW I DON’T THINK I SHALL SLEEP TONIGHT!!

Although I kinda imagined Caspian… differently. I may still warm up to… well, whoever that is… but seriously, Meli’s-brain-Caspian > trailer-Caspian so far. We’ll see.

Wow, that’s not far away. Yeah, the trailer looks great, and I love picking up Peter Jackson’s / LOTR’s influence in fantasy films now. It makes me giggle.

PS: Made of Honor looks pretty good, actually. It made me kinda sad, though. CURSE STUPID BEST FRIEND SITUATIONS!

I haven’t even heard about it yet. But I don’t know if I will see it. I didn’t really get into the book but then again watching the movie is so much better. xD
